New Commission

Without the military help of the black freedmen, the war against the south could not have been won.

United States Colored Troops Memorial

Commissioned by the Centreville Veterans Information Center and the Queen Anne’s County Veterans Committee, this statue will honor more than 435 African American soldiers from Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, who fought in the Civil War.

Upon completion, the sculpture will stand approximately 6 and a half feet tall, and rest upon a 28-inch granite base.  A front panel will tell the story of the Queen Anne’s County heroes represented here in bronze, and three side panels will be inscribed with the names of those United States Colored Troops veterans identified thus far from Queen Anne’s County.

Swans in Flight

This piece, commissioned by Greenebaum Enterprises, has been completed and is awaiting installation at Maple Lawn, one of Greenebaum’s award-winning real estate developments in Howard County, Maryland. The stainless steel sculpture stands 15 feet high, with three swans spanning six feet ascending into flight. Each of the three swans has a wing span of six feet.

The client’s intent was to create a public art installation that promises to help strengthen the sense of community at Maple Lawn and that fosters a greater understanding of Maryland’s history and culture as a haven for migratory waterfowl. It will be installed in green space along Maple Lawn Boulevard.

The sculpture will be dedicated next spring to real estate developer and philanthropist Stewart J. Greenebaum, who died December 10, 2019, and to Michael and Adele Greenebaum, who carry on his legacy.

In the photo below, artist Tilghman Hemsley (left) works with metal fabricator Matt O’Connell of ONH Custom Designs on the placement of the swan’s feet.
